Emmanuella Grace Featured on Cover of The Age
I am incredibly proud to have been featured on the cover of The Age, advocating for families, community, and the arts.
In the wake of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Australians have been grappling with a cost-of-living crisis. Rising interest rates have only intensified the financial strain on both homeowners and renters. As a homeowner, businessperson, and parent in the arts, I worry about the long-term effects of this economic pressure—particularly on access to the arts.
When families can no longer afford to attend performances, visit exhibitions, or participate in grassroots arts programs, we risk turning the arts into a privilege for the affluent rather than a shared cultural experience. These programs not only provide employment for artists beyond the stage but also offer children across diverse backgrounds the opportunity to engage with and master artistic expression.
If access to the arts continues to shrink due to financial barriers, we lose something essential—our collective ability to create, connect, and express ourselves. The arts should not be a luxury; creativity isa vital part of our humanity.
